New Manufaktur — BUBEN&ZORWEG

New Manufaktur

BUBEN&ZORWEG has completed new Manufaktur and flagship store at the foot of the Black Forest in Pforzheim, Germany.

BUBEN&ZORWEG, the global reference in high-security safes and watch winders, is thrilled to announce the completion of its most ambitious building to date. The new 2500 m² Manufaktur, on a 5000 m² site at the foot of the Black Forest in Pforzheim, Germany, is now also home to a B&Z flagship store.

The construction project, which represents the largest financial investment in the history of the family business to date, is a further logical step in BUBEN&ZORWEG's expansion strategy.

Architectural concept

The location houses BUBEN&ZORWEG's world-class teams in engineering, design, manufacturing, quality, logistics and marketing, alongside a striking flagship store.  Reflecting the brand’s proud mark of quality Made in Germany and the company’s longstanding ties to the Black Forest region, the project’s appointed contractors were Stuttgart-based architects Esslinger-Deitermann and Pforzheim-based building contractors Pfirmann. The building’s architectural concept, materials and design are an extension of the BUBEN&ZORWEG philosophy which uniquely blends three core principles - German engineering, fine craftsmanship and extraordinary design. Split over three sections, the structure echoes the interplay between them. At the centre of the building lies the Manufaktur, where the highly artistic manufacturing processes take place. Engineering, design and logistics flank either side. A façade of contrasts, comprising traditional German clinker brick, chosen for its durability and sustainability, combined with glass, give the building a distinctive, contemporary feel.

Production & Quality

The building celebrates and inspires innovation, collaboration and bespoke craftsmanship at the highest quality, while ensuring maximum comfort and safety for employees. Highlights of the Manufaktur include a 500m² space dedicated to specific handicraft processes and to producing small series, limited editions and unique pieces. A light tunnel, reminiscent of those found in automotive factories, brings 30% more daylight to the quality assurance and durability test area.
